Why Give?

The Women’s Center has helped over a thousand women in the Greater Lansing area. Some of the things women come to the Center for include:

  • individual or family counseling
  • support groups
  • individual help with a job search
  • computer use and training
  • getting help to prevent a foreclosure
  • attending a workshop

The demand for our services exceeds our ability to supply them. We take in new clients based on referrals from homeless agencies and other shelter programs as well as walk-ins from family or friend referrals. As you can imagine, this causes a bit of chaos as we try to see everyone who comes to us without overburdening our staff of volunteers and interns and  our already-strained budget. We are grateful to be able to provide these services to as many women as we can.

The services we provide:

  • Helping women get and maintain good paying jobs
  • Helping women get through divorce
  • Heal from a sexual assault or another soul-crushing event
  • Assertiveness training and helping women gain control over their lives
  • Career counseling to help women advance in their workplaces
  • Find solace with other women dealing with mid-life issues
  • Help women realize their potential in these and many other ways

All of the services we provide cost money. Most of women who come here don’t have money to pay for those services, even with our generous sliding fee scale. That is where you can help.

Fans, supporters, and friends please consider becoming a Founder of the Women’s Center. You can be a Founding Mother, Founding Man, Founding Family or Founding Team (or give yourself a title). Your financial support will be put to immediate use helping to sustain all of the services the Women’s Center provides to this community. You don’t have to give at the Founders level to help. Any amount you can spare will be welcome. We have donors who give at the $20/month level. Everything helps us continue to grow and improve the place where we all live. We welcome and encourage men to donate. You all have women in your lives and one of them may benefit from our services. As we know…women hold up half the sky. We are all in this together. Let us work together to create a thriving, sustainable organization that supports ALL members of this community.
